:bulletgreen: Stormfeather - LunarShadowCreations
:bulletyellow: Silverfire - LUMlN

---

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather had been so relieved when he and his mate returned to camp, carrying with them the four tiny, wriggling bundles of fluff that were their kits. The Clan had been surprised - Autumnwhisper had lectured Silverfire for venturing out into the oncoming storm, and then proceeded to lecture Stormfeather for going after her, and then grudgingly admitting that, if Stormfeather hadn't been there, Silverfire would have faced serious altercations, alone and scared with four hungry mouths to feed in a freezing rainstorm.

A few days had passed, and Rockytail had grown irritated with Stormfeather's insistence on spending so much time around Silverfire and the kits. And every night, he squeezed into a mossy nest next to his mate, and had rolled over onto Rockytail and her family, and Bluekit, Skullkit, Owlkit, and Cavekit, a couple of times already. While the kits were good-natured about it, Rockytail had finally told him to get out.

And so, for the first night in a week, Stormfeather crawled into his old, musty nest in the warriors' den, and, despite his yearning for Silverfire's warmth next to him, he managed to fall asleep.

In fact...it was a little too warm. It was the middle of the night when Stormfeather felt his pelt was uncomfortably warm, and he blinked open his eyes. The air smelled funny. He stood up as a voice called, "Fire!

Immediately, his thoughts flew to one thing: his family. "Silverfire!"

:bulletyellow: | It was a few days after Silverfire had given birth, since then, she hadn't done much at all. Simply looking after the small needs of her kits, who only really wanted to sleep and eat, and to recover herself from the experience of delivering them.

She shuffled in her sleep, not used to sleeping alone again after being beside Stormfeather for so long, she tried not to dislike Rockytail for pushing him out, and made herself realise it was for the best, she was the one with the kits, he wasn't , he belonged with the other warriors doing his best to serve the clan.

That night however, was particularly hard to sleep through, her new children slept fine as always, but Silverfire was unable to find a comfy spot, and the sound of Gullkit snoring didn't help either. However, when she at last managed to drift into a light slumber, she was roused by the calling of her name, loudly and in panic. She bolted upright, making her kits wake up in fright and begin to mew in complaint, Silverfire was about to pop out the nursery to ask (who she presumed was Stormfeather) what was the matter. Until...

Fire.

She could smell fire.

She had felt fear before, when her mother died, when she was attacked by a badger with Nettlekit, and when she was faced with her father once more.

But she'd never felt more fear until that night, when her newborn children laid in a den slowly being surrounded by smoke,  and her mate out probably helping others escape the flames. Everything she held dear was in once place, a place being consumed by flame.

She shook her head and coughed the smoke out of her lungs, forcing herself into a quick action. "Stormfeather!" she cried, letting the tom know where she was, as she roused Rockytail and woke up her children, calling out for warriors to help her with the bundles.

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather could scarcely bear to hear the utter terror in Silverfire's yowl. He pushed past a few warriors, blatantly ignoring whatever orders Maplestar was trying to hand out - but his family meant more to him than the Clan, and he needed to make sure they were safe before doing anything else.

Golden-orange tongues of flame were leaping around the camp, and Stormfeather pushed his way into the nursery. "Silverfire!" he gasped when he found her. The den was engulfed in a thin layer of smoke, growing thicker by the second. He pressed his face against hers and said, "There's a fire. We've got to get out of here." Anxiously, he looked down at their four children. Four kits, how do you carry four?

Another form was at his side. "Give me one of them," a voice rasped. Whispervoice! Stormfeather nodded and leaned over, snatching up one of his children - Aurorakit, squeaking with protest - and passed her to Whispervoice, who hurried off with the kit.

Stormfeather watched him go, anxious about his daughter being separated from her family, but he trusted the black warrior. He looked to Silverfire, blocking out the frightened mewing of Rockytail and Autumnwhisper's kits as they rushed out of the nursery and were carried off by an assortment of warriors. They were lucky - they could walk out into the clearing, where they would be carried off easily. But in the cramped quarters, where the kits couldn't walk...

"I'll take the boys out into the clearing," he said. "You grab Flurrykit and meet me there!"

He leaned over and grabbed the two little toms. In retrospect, grabbing the two largest of his kits in his jaws wasn't his brightest move, and they certainly had grown since the last time he had carried them only a week ago, but the direness of the situation made them light as a feather. He trotted into the clearing, set the kits on the ground, and called out for help.

The only apprentice, Maplestar's younger sister, Featherpaw, hurried over and said, "Here! I'll take Chimekit!" Nodding, Stormfeather backed away and allowed the soft-furred she-cat to take the loudly crying Chimekit out of the camp. Stormfeather anxiously looked back to the nursery, pulling Gullkit close.

"Silverfire!

:bulletyellow: | Silverfire gathered her kits between her front paws, quickly licking down Flurrykit's head, as the shyest of the kits, she didn't take to danger well at all. She waited for Stormfeather, or anyone for that matter, with four kits she wouldn't be able to get them all out of camp, sure she could go one at a time but why would she ever leave their side for a single moment?

She breathed a sigh of relief which turned into a cough as she inhaled more smoke, seeing Stormfeather emerge into the den. Her heart-rate slowed for a fraction when he pressed his head against hers, making her feel slightly safer momentarily.
At a better time she would have chuckled at his obvious remark and commented with "Oh really? I didn't notice!" but now was not the time, she had four kits between her legs and there were only two cats to carry them, if that. She was already feeling very light-headed, still being weak from the process of giving birth a week ago, she wasn't sure if she could run with a kit in her jaws...

The pair were interrupted by Whispervoice, to Silverfire's relief, took Aurorakit, and began to run out of camp. Silverfire pushed down the tinge of fear for her daughter, she'd be fine, and she was much safer with a warrior of thunderclan than stuck in the nursery which was growing increasingly dark with smoke.

Stormfeather grabbed Chimekit and Gullkit, who both made a loud squeak as their father took them outside. Silverfire turned to Flurrykit, who made a shrill cry of fear as a branch from the den clattered down with a cloud of smoke and several sparks, setting the den more alight.

With the light of flame dancing in her eyes, Silverfire grabbed her daughter quickly, fleeing the den just in time as it caught light further. As she ran out of the den, going as fast as her large belly would allow with a kit in her mouth, she wondered if this was another punishment from starclan. Won't they just leave our family alone? she thought, her mind wandering to the past events in her's and Stormfeather's lives which had haunted them both. If starclan wanted to touch their new family, they had another thing coming. She was called Silverfire for a reason.

As she reached the clearing, she spotted Morningbreeze, who was talking to Stormfeather, and then ran off with Gullkit bouncing in her jaws as they fled camp.

It seemed few cats were left in the camp, and Silverfire looked around anxiously as she placed the shaking Flurrykit in her paws. She panted, the smoke causing her to cough and her lungs to rattle. She felt a sudden strike of fear like lightning. "Where's Chimekit?" she asked, looking around with wild eyes for her loud son.

"Fatherpaw has taken him." the dark tom assured her quickly before continuing. "We need to go now."

Silverfire nodded, and picked up Flurrykit, to begin racing out of the camp, and up the forest track, leaving the burning thunderclan camp behind.

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather walked right alongside Silverfire, pressing his dark flank against hers as they navigated the blackening forest and the scarlet-orange flames. Both stumbled as they tried to clamber out of the camp, but some of the warriors around them gently nudged the pair forward.

Stormfeather's nostrils flared with fear for his family, and for his Clan, and he looked back only once at their burning home. He thought he saw a dark shape silhouetted against the flames, a figure of a cat, but a heartbeat later, it was gone. He figured it was just a bush or something, or a thicker clot of smoke.

He turned his focus back to Silverfire, and his fur rippled when he saw how much trouble she was having, her large belly, swollen with milk, swinging uncomfortably, and her head was drooping - it must be tiring, tending to four kits all hours of the day - and Flurrykit bumped twice against the ground.

Stormfeather meowed, "Here, let me take Snowflake from you." He leaned over and took Flurrykit gently from Silverfire. She blinked at him gratefully and leaned only temporarily against his flank before she was able to walk on her own over the uneven, frozen ground.

Only just born, and facing a terror some cats don't ever see in their lifetime, he thought. Good thing their eyes and ears are still closed. He tried to focus on Silverfire, the feel of her pelt, and Flurrykit's weight swinging from his jaws. Ignore the fire, ignore the fire...almost to the badger sett, where the Clan would be camping...

:bulletyellow: | Silverfire padded along with a dropping head, feeling oddly enough the cold frost on her paws and looking back at the fire was a odd contrast and it made her wonder how the fire was caused. It was leafbare, fires simply didn't happen naturally at this time.

She stumbled as she tripped on a overgrown root, mostly due to the tiredness running through her legs, which was a odd feeling, she wasn't used to feeling so weak and immobile. A large belly of mil wasn't the best gear for running through the forest when escaping a burning wall of death. As she tripped, Flurrykit bumped on the floor slightly, making her daughter squeak in surprise and pain. Silverfre frowned, angry with herself for failing the bundle of fluff In her jaws. She felt a gaze resting on her, and realised Stormfeather was staring at her in concern. He took Flurrykt gently, making silverfire smile with his use of 'snowflake'.

Silverfire tried not to feel too down in herself, it was understandable for her to feel so tired, she was just thankful her kits we're too young to observe the true horror of the fire with their eyes and ears. She leaned into Stormfeather for a moment and licked his shoulder in thanks before continuing on walking, praying her kits we're safe.

She let out a small smile as she realised the clan was meeting at the badger den, where she and her mate had fallen in love and where they took their kits after being born. She wondered what their reactions would be when she told them the history of the set.

Her thoughts were broken when Featherpaw approached, holding a loud Chimekit in her jaws. Silverfire took the tom from the young cat, mumbling her earnest thanks through the fur of her son. She returned to Stormfeather to find the other three siblings curled together at his paws. Silverfire saw Morningbreeze padding away, and made a mental note to thank her good friend later, for now she would have to make sure her kits were ok.

"thank starclan they're all ok, a little bit covered in soot, but ok." she commented, licking Aurorakit behind the ears , tasting soot on her daughter's pelt. "Are you ok?" she asked, stopping her task of cleaning the children for a moment to ask her mate if he was ok.

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather nodded, grinning lopsidedly as he watched Silverfire fuss over their kits. "I'm perfectly fine," he assured her. Glancing around, he took in their surroundings - a shallow hollow with dry dirt, caked in frost, crunching underpaw. And, there was the entrance to the badger's den where he had confessed to Silverfire he loved her, and where their kits had only just been born.

Might as well have just stayed here, he thought, only half-jokingly. He pressed against Silverfire and helped her clean off the kits, sniffing at Gullkit, who had been carried by Morningbreeze. The little kit had a large dash of soot staining the white splash on his face, and he rasped it off, grimacing slightly at the bitter taste. He was filled with fondness for his first-born son as, in protest of being cleaned, he batted at Stormfeather's nose with one tiny paw.

His eyes flickered to the orange glow through the trees, and he glanced around, spotting Maplestar. She had set her own child, Peonykit, at Heatherlight's paws, but before Stormfeather could ask if the ThunderClan leader was positive this was a safe place to stop, she had rushed off, back towards the camp, back into the flames.

Stormfeather turned to Silverfire. "The wind is blowing away from here," he said, trying to assure her as well as himself. "We should be safe here. Let me get you and the kits settled in, and I'll check around if I'm needed for anything."

:bulletyellow: | Silverfire nodded at his reply, switching from Aurorakit to Flurrykit, who was trembling terribly, her heart broke for her young daughter, who already seemed to be the most anxious out of the litter. She curled around the young she cat, wrapping her in her paws and long fluffy tail. Despite the heat blazing from the fire, it was still leafbare, and being out in the open wasn't the best thing for week old kits, she looked around for Hollytail or Maplestar, but couldn't find either.

She glanced back at Stormfeather, about to ask him if he knew what the clan was going to do next, but she caught sight of him and Gullkit in a tender moment, their young son batting his paws on his father as he tried to clean him up. He already proved to dislike being cleaned, his spiky fur was terrible to groom, but it seemed he liked it that way. Clearly he was going to cause trouble as he grew.

She smiled at the father and son, forgetting about the fire for a moment, but her attention was brought back to Chimekit, who let out a large <B<'meeep'</B> making her chuckle, but also nudging him with her nose to a warmer spot closer to her belly.

Stormfeather's voice made her look up, and prick her ears at his words. "Yeah, we need to get them into somewhere warmer, the other kits may be ok but they're nearly six moons older." she commented, getting to her paws, much to the distaste of her children, who made their complain known quickly with loud mews.

She sighed, being a mother took getting used to, she was defiantly enjoying it, and would never trade them for anything. But it certainly was hard work.
She stood over her kits, protecting them in her shadow against the glare of the flames, and pulled a thoughtful face before asking Stormfeather quietly; "You don't think we're cursed do you?"

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather flicked his ears in surprise at Silverfire's question, picking up little Gullkit in his jaws and carrying him just inside of the badger sett before returning for Chimekit and setting him next to his brother. Grabbing Flurrykit, and Silverfire picking up Aurorakit, Stormfeather mumbled around a mouthful of fur, "I don't know."

Silverfire slipped into the badger sett, and he helped to rearrange the kits around her stomach before resting his chin atop her head. "To be honest, I've felt as though my whole life has been a series of ups and downs, with the downs being so horrible, I can't even..."

Clearing his throat, he said, "But the good can't come without the bad. And after all the bad things...well, I've found really good things. Without my birth mother dying, I would never have joined the Clans. I wouldn't have you or Ravenstorm if I hadn't met Robincall. And...well, life just wouldn't be the same.

He glanced out of the den, to his soot-covered Clan, and sighed, "ThunderClan is strong. We can handle a fire. Look - all of the elders and kits got out of camp safely, and I see all our warriors and apprentices. All that's missing are Hollytail and Maplestar - but I think they went back to check if anyone was left behind. The only thing...

"I used to think StarClan had no control over the things that happened here on Earth. The good, or the bad, they had no influence. They only guided us. But I've started to think...with the fish in the river dying...and the plague that killed so many...and badgers - everywhere! - in WindClan territory...and now this fire...

He turned back to Silverfire, and met her gaze with an anxious, but determined, fire burning in his eyes. "I'm starting to think that StarClan does have power. And that they are using that power against us."

:bulletyellow: | Silverfire followed him, carrying Aurorakit in her jaws, making sure she was more gentle this time than she had been with Flurrykit, who was probably slightly grumpy with her for causing a few bumps and bruises.

Listening to Stormfeather's words, she realised he had a point, without bad, there was no good. No one would know what good was, or how precious it could be. She looked at her kits as he talked about the amount of increasing bad there was in the world, what world would they grow up in?

The life of a clan cat was growing more and more dangerous, badgers ,  plagues, wars, and now fires. What would the world be like for the four bundles laying against her belly? For now, she would protect them against anything that dared touch them, the ferocity of maternal nature ran through her veins like the fire outside now, she'd never fully appreciated what being a mother was like. It was like a leader's nine lives ceremony, it gave a whole new strength she never believed she could possess.

But what about when she was gone? And they were left to protect their-selves?
What would the world be like then?

When he spoke about how starclan could be against them, she narrowed her eyes and curled her tail closer to her kits subconsciously, she looked at Stormfeather, surprised at the fire in his eyes, realising he was as angry at starclan as she was.

"You're right." she murmured. "I know each cat gets tragedy in their life, but I feel like we've had our fair share. I have no clue what we'll teach the little ones about.. our ancestors. How can I teach them to worship something that I believe could try to kill them?" she growled, half to herself, which worried her that she was revealing too much of her innermost thoughts.

:bulletgreen: | "I know," Stormfeather murmured. "I can't imagine raising our kits to look up to cats that want them to suffer...but at the same time, I can't imagine them growing up without StarClan!"

He sighed, looking down at the kits squirming around Silverfire's belly. They were so tiny, so precious, and already their short lives had been filled with disaster. The rough conditions of the birth giving way to the terror of the fire engulfing the territory...there would be less prey...and it would be leaf-bare, soon...

"I think the old leaders don't wish to give up reign," Stormfeather growled. An idea came to mind. "I mean, our families - Ravenfeather and Echokit and Dustykit and Songbird and Jaggedpelt and your brothers...they wouldn't want us to suffer! The cats who have been born on these lands, they mean us no harm, they can't! We're their direct kin! We..."

He ducked his head, thinking hard for a moment. "I will warn our kits of what greed results in. The old leaders - the ones who defeated the Dark Forest long ago...they think we've forgotten them...they think they're too important to be forgotten...they think that, if the Clans don't remember them with awe, they should be wiped out!"

Realizing how maniacal he sounded, Stormfeather took a deep breath and touched his muzzle against Silverfire's. "I'm going to tell them to be wary of StarClan, to not have blind faith in the 'heroes' who defeated the Dark Forest. I will tell them the only cats they can trust are those who were born on this land." He looked at Silverfire. "Because a life without belief in StarClan...it's unimaginable. But...so is trust in tyrants."

:bulletyellow: | Silverfire watched as Stormfeather rambled on, slightly making her concerned with how in depth he was thinking about this, and how complex his theory was, clearly he had been thinking about this a fair bit.

She relaxed a little when he seemed to sense her unease and touched his muzzle to hers, his speech lessening in speed a little showing his mind was slowing back down to a normal rate.

"I think I'll let them decide for their-selves what they think, I'll tell them who they are, who they are, but I won't tell them what they do. Then they can decide for their selves. But you're right, our kin would never do this, it can't be the average starclan cat causing all this danger. Something, more powerful must be at work, as you said, corrupt leaders." She shuddered for a moment, wondering if that was the future of the clans, to slowly die on the earth and then deteriorate even more in the spiritual world.

As she thought, she wondered about a topic that had plagued her mind since she found out she was pregnant, and since they were being so open, she decided to ask quietly, avoiding his dark forest green gaze with her ears down.

"What are we going to tell them about... Robincall and Ravenstorm?"She asked, waiting for his reaction before explaining further.

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather's mind raced at the mention of his past mate and daughter. He thought for a few moments, long and hard, and then whispered, "They don't need to know about Robincall. She...she isn't a part of my life anymore. After she died...Ravenfeather came to me and said she had been given a second chance at life, but amongst different cats, somewhere else in the world."

He felt guilty, saying this to Silverfire, but he had to say it. "Even if I wanted to see her again, I wouldn't be able to. She will live and die with these other cats and then join them in death - but not in StarClan. I'm never going to see Robincall again, so I just...moved on."

Easier said than done, a harsh reality. Stormfeather was ashamed that the cat he had loved so passionately was now only a shade in the back of his mind. How could he stop loving her so easily? She'll always hold a special place in my heart, but she isn't a part of my life anymore. He was firm with this; besides, had he really known her? They had only been together a short time before she was pregnant with Ravenstorm and Echokit and Dustykit...

Clearing his throat uncomfortably, he said again, "They don't need to know about Robincall. But Ravenstorm, of course they'll know about Ravenstorm! And we'll tell it like it is." He leaned over to touch one of his kits with his nose, remembering when Ravenstorm was only Ravenkit. "That she left the Clan for true love, and is with Eaglemask in SkyClan."

He chuckled anxiously, "I just pray these four stay right here in ThunderClan with us. I don't know if I could go through that all again...why did you ask about them, though?"

:bulletyellow: | Silverfire's ears perked when he spoke about Robincall's reincarnation, she'd never known about that before, even with the new information she felt no threat or dislike of the she cat, maybe once she was rather insecure about having a mate who had a she cat before her. But now, she wasn't worried at all. Which was quite a nice feeling.

Silverfire chuckled as he told her how they'd tell their children why Ravenstorm left. "I imagine the girls will quite like that story, I'm pretty sure Chime and Gull will prefer a good battle story though." she chuckled.

Silverfire nodded anxiously, she had loved Ravenstorm with all her heart, like she was actually her daughter she had carried and raised herself. She couldn't imagine what it was like to lose a kit you had carried in your belly for so long and to watch them just walk away. She closed her eyes for a second and shook the thought from her mind, she didn't want to imagine it.

"Me neither...I don't think I could watch it happen again." she admitted.

She gulped when he asked why she's thought about them, and decided to be honest.
"I just thought we should agree on what we're going to do, just in case the clan mentions something because they'd understand when they're older, but now..not so much."

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather purred. "Believe me, we will keep no lies from our kits. The only thing they might worry about is the fact I was born and raised as a RiverClanner..." He closed his eyes. "But, if we're lucky, no cat will make much mention of it until they're older. I'd hate if they were thought any less of because of it."

Kneading his paws on the ground, he added, "But there are a lot of great cats in the Clan. I don't think anyone will give them trouble for it. It's been awhile since any cat's called me 'fish-breath' or even mentioned my RiverClan heritage."

He rasped his tongue over Silverfire's head. "I promise you, Silverfire, whatever happens, we will face it together - you, me, and the kits. No matter what struggles or secrets lie ahead, we will be there for our kits every step of the way."

One ear flicked at the sound of pawsteps on the ground above the badger sett. "Sounds like Maplestar is back. I hope everyone got out of camp safely."

:bulletyellow: | Silverfire's eyes widened, she's actually forgotten the tom's true heritage, if anything that showed how well he'd integrated with the clan, you'd expect him to be a full blooded thunderclanner. "To be truthful, I even forget that sometimes, I don't think there's much danger of anyone saying anything." she purred, ducking her head in embarrassment and hoping he wouldn't be offended.

She purred at his heart-warming words, and touched her nose to his for a moment. "We will, no matter what." she purred.

She nodded at the new information, she too had heard the paw-steps above, but her fur stood on end as she heard a mournful cry. She turned to Stormfeather with wide eyes, and subconsciously drew her tail closer around her kits. "Someone's died..." she whispered, recognising the type of cry it was, a cry only used when death was near.

:bulletgreen: | Stormfeather blinked his eyes when she said she'd forgotten, and admitted to himself that he couldn't remember his days in RiverClan between his father's death and when he met Robincall and moved into ThunderClan. Everything in-between was just a blur, a speck in his life.

He had heard the heart-wrenching cry from outside, and he flicked his ears, turning around. Poking his head out of the sett, he saw Maplestar crumpled over a still tortoiseshell form. Hollytail.

Stormfeather's throat clenched. He had never been very close to the she-cat, but she had been Ravenstorm's mentor, oh, she would be devastated...

He turned to Silverfire. "I'd better go and see if they need any help out there. The whole Clan's in shock...Pigeonclaw's got some singed fur, she's caterwauling about it...Autumnwhisper's not doing too well, she's keeled over...and Kestrel-oh, StarClan, his face..."

Even though he knew his family was important and needed him just as much, seeing the chaos flooding amongst his Clanmates - dead cats, burns, injuries galore..."Will you be alright here alone?"

Silverfire nodded, tucking herself closer around their kits. "Good. I love you. Get some rest." He pressed his face against hers and turned to greet the fire-ravaged Clan with head held high.
Egad! Sorry this took so long, this activity check RP, but here it is! Stormfeather and Silverfire's reactions to the fire! I swear, I plan to draw something of Featherpaw and Whispervoice carrying the kits alongside Morningbreeze and Stormfeather and Silverfire, it's just taking a while! But here's the RP. Stormfeather feels...clarity after this conversation. Initially only absorbed by Silverfire and the kits, when he saw the devastation of the Clan, he realized he needed to step up and help in any way he could.
