[DotW] Xassa Eclipse Event
A ring of fire was suspended in the strangely darkened sky, where the sun should have been shining brightly as it had been earlier that morning. It burned his eyes as he stared, causing them to water, and Nineveh lowered his head to paw at the stinging sensation. “What’s happening?” “Cyrus Nineveh, what do we do?” “What does it mean?” “Is it Xerxes? A message from our god?” Nineveh looked at the wolves gathered around him. He managed to find his voice and, though it was raw and croaking, he managed to rasp out, “I-I don’t know. Give me a moment, please.” His heart was thudding, racing like a jackrabbit across the prairie, fluttering like the wings of a bird. The ring of fire evoked such a strong sense of fear, a primal, deep fear, and he couldn’t choke out another sentence, when - His vision suddenly went dark, and a buzzing filled his ears. He dropped to his belly, his claws sinking into the earth as he tried to ground himself, the world seeming to sway and dip around him. He

TW: Descriptions of depression, hopelessness, and loss. Nineveh slipped silently from his den and set his paws on the path into the forest. He winced under the watchful eye of the sun, feeling shame prickle at his pelt as he tried to make his way from his den to the treeline without his packmates seeing him. He had been more and more distant as time passed since the hurricane. His heart was heavy, weighted down with a constant, dull ache, like a load of sharp-edged stones settled there. The effort of keeping well-groomed, of eating properly and exercising, of speaking to his pack…it felt an insurmountable task. For months now, he had secluded himself in the shadows of his den, or traveled to isolated pockets in the forest, alone. Every time he attempted to brace himself to make an announcement to his packmates, to try and rally them in spite of the agonizing losses they had faced, he felt as though he were staring up a sheer cliff face. Impossible. The losses were monumental. The

Hurricane Season, Part III | UPDATED
The storm arrives with unexpected ferocity, despite the pack's diligent planning. There is no stopping the sudden storm surge, the dreadfully powerful winds, and the downpour. Nineveh had tried to be responsible and wise leading his packmates, but, much to his frustration, couldn't convince his sister, Melchior Tahmina, to abandon the Caves and seek shelter. Only as trees groan from the force of the wind around them does Nineveh finally withdraw his pleas, asking two trusted Nabu to remain behind with the stubborn Melchior. Only a few of his packmates join him up the mountainside. Many others are still out in the territory, trying to prepare for the storm. His mind whirls like the rapids as he tries to piece together where they are, and if any of them have a chance of surviving the storm. I should have demanded they all stay in this shelter, he thinks blindly. What's a few days of hunger compared to dying in this storm? Haunted by his decision-making, he stands higher up the cliff,

Hurricane Season, Part II | Hurricane Prep
Though summer has always brought storms to Xassan territory, this season brings something different to the Domain, something that hasn’t been experienced in years. A storm with no name. Or, rather, no name that any living wolf can remember. As the pack tries to find answers to what the strange conditions in the atmosphere are heralding, it is Melchior Tahmina, deep in her studies of the Records, who provides the long-lost name to the coming storm: Hurricane. Knowing that the storm has the potential to destroy Xassa if unprepared, Cyrus Nineveh consults with the Magi and determines that the storm is coming fast. With perhaps as little as a day or two to prepare for the oncoming storm, the Xassans set about preparing for landfall. Every wolf needs to lend a paw in one of three areas: hunting, preparing the Tell, and gathering herbs. It does not matter what task your wolf is involved in, though obviously Su'en should probably focus on hunting, and Gula should focus on gathering herbs!

Something on the Wind | XASSA PROMPT
You have been feeling a bit…off these past few days. Nobody can quite put a paw on it, but your packmates seem a bit tense, a bit jumpier than usual. Some wolves are struggling to sleep, feeling restless, pacing around the outside of the Tell. The territory’s prey animals are equally anxious, with large game traveling west and south, deep into the Xerxes Mountains. Smaller animals seem to be on the move as well, and the birds. What is going on? You and your packmates have no idea, but one day, when the wind is whipping through the trees and the seemingly endless drizzle has taken a pause, Nineveh calls for his packmates to use their collective knowledge to discuss what is coming and what to do to prepare for it. If your wolf wants to participate in this discussion, sign up for a dice roll to determine what, if anything, they can contribute to such a conversation! If you do not opt for dice rolls, your wolf will be away from the Tell when Nineveh calls for this meeting. If you want to
